FLOWER PROJECT: Graeme Clarke is leading the project to turn a patch of land on the western side of the railway line into wildflowers.

Bid to beautify railway line GEORGIA O’CONNOR-HARDING

The railway line near Nancy’s Corner on Riccarton Rd is about to be transformed from an eyesore to a field of wild flowers. The flowers are planned to

INSIDE:

go along the western side of the railway by Riccarton Rd, beside Cafe Seismo, to beautify the site. The site manager at 35 Riccarton Rd Graeme Clarke said the idea was inspired from work done by the Deans Ave Precinct Society who have beautified the

eastern side of the railway with murals. Mr Clarke said the idea came from his wife Di Clarke, a “garden enthusiast,’’ who suggested the land might look good in meadow flowers. ‘‘With the beautification work

ongoing on the east side of the pathway, the meadow-flower idea seemed a natural compliment for the railway verge west side.’’ The project is gradual and will likely evolve over several years depending on how the plants adapt, said Mr Clarke.

There could also be scope to continue the line of murals on the building at 35 Riccarton Rd. Mr Clarke said if this project works well, KiwiRail may consider other areas to plant meadow flowers.

No plans by university to begin student accommodation facility Canterbury University has no plans to begin work on a controversial plan to turn a retirement home into student accommodation, in spite of resource consent being granted. Bupa St Nicolas Care Home on Kirkwood Ave will shift to Peer St, Avonhead making way for university accommodation. The resource consent for the project was granted recently by Commissioner David Collins, with conditions. A Canterbury University spokeswoman said it had “no immediate plans” to begin work at the site. “The university will not have possession of the facility until Bupa relocates its residents, which is understood to be in late 2016,” the spokeswoman said. Residents have resisted the plans, saying the area will become noisy and disruptive with student-related antics. The main concern of the residents were the outdoor area designated for more than 70 students to congregate. The outdoor area was initially

TWO CAR CRASH Two cars crashed near Curletts Rd and Main South Rd, Sockburn, on Wednesday at 9.57pm. The fire service was at the scene for 52min. Two fire crews from Sockburn and Herewood and St John were sent to the scene. GRASS FIRE A controlled burn in a paddock got out of control near the Old West Coast Rd on Tuesday at 1.55pm. Co-ordinated approach needed to improve pedestrian safety around Hub Hornby Last week Hub Hornby centre manager Jason Marsden discussed his concerns around safe pedestrian access at the busy intersection outside the major shopping site. This week we asked the city council what their plans were to improve pedestrian access at major shopping areas around Hub Hornby. Acting unit manager transport and city streets, Paul Burden responded: The city council has a project identified at improving pedestrian access safety between major shopping areas around the Hub Hornby. This is scheduled for the 2017-18 financial year. Improving pedestrian safety in this area needs a co-ordinated approach involving the New Zealand Transport Agency, KiwiRail

SOAP BOX and ourselves. Carmen Rd is State Highway 1 (NZTA responsibility), Main South Rd east of Carmen Rd, is city council’s responsibility and the Hornby Branch Line is KiwiRail. The NZTA will need to agree on implementing improvements for the signalised intersection and the crossing of Carmen Rd with agreement and involvement of KiwiRail for the rail crossing. The city council will investigate the possibility of a footpath along the front of Countdown to join the existing footpath that terminates just east of Countdown. Detailed planning for the improvements

has not yet commenced. The proposal for a footpath along Main South Rd, in front of Countdown has been identified in the city council’s minor works programme for 2017/18. The city council has budgeted for the minor works programme but individual projects within the programme are assessed and prioritised as the programme is delivered. The project has been listed but no details or cost estimates have

been prepared so the project can only be considered as a possible future improvement. The New Zealand Transport Agency responded: Given this is not scheduled until the 2017-18 financial year, and is a joint project with the transport agency, KiwiRail and the city council. With a lot of work to occur yet, the transport agency is happy with the city council’s overview and has nothing to add at this stage.

Avonhead road upgrade to prohibit boyracers GEORGIA O’CONNOR-HARDING

Boyracers will be thwarted by the temporary closure of an Avonhead road, pleasing nearby residents who are sick of their antics. As part of the Russley Rd upgrades led by New Zealand Transport Agency, Avonhead Rd east while be closed from today. A temporary turning circle would be constructed on the road to help people caught out by changes. Residents have welcomed the closure saying it will stop boyracers from plaguing the area and also increase safety at

the intersection. Russley, Avonhead and Memorial Resident’s Ave spokesman Geoff Judge said though boyracers no longer came past in “tribes” there was still a problem with them. Mr Judge said residents often took alternative routes to Russley Rd to avoid the intersection. He said he was nearly hit by

5

a car speeding at about 200km just last week at the intersection. Mr Judge said the only concern some residents had was there might be more noise exposure with the installation of the overbridge project. Avonhead Rd west already has reduced access with left turning only from last week.

More than 300 submissions have been received so far around Wendy’s bid to gain a liquor licence. A city council spokeswoman said 322 had been received by noon yesterday. Submissions closed last night at 5pm. The restaurant on Chappie Pl in Hornby has applied for a licence to sell alcohol between the hours of 8am and 11pm seven day a week.

It is being applied for by the parent company, Wendco New Zealand Ltd. Community leaders rallied against the licence and held a meeting on November 2 to show the public how to make a submission. The company’s chief executive Danielle Lendich says Wendy’s is part of the community and will carefully consider the views of the community, however, it is not unusual for family restaurants to serve alcohol.

Tim Bain

Producer of buskers festival the The SCIRT World Buskers Festival does not start until January 14, but producer Tim Bain is already busy sourcing unusual props and booking show-stopping entertainers. He chats to Fraser Walker-Pearce Thanks for chatting with me Tim, right now you’re super busy with setting up the buskers festival for next year. How’s that going? We launched the project this week just gone. So we’re definitely not on the home straight, but we are getting the stages ready, which is great. But then you have to worry about the performers’ visas, flights, production requirements and everything else. The festival goes from January 14-24. Realistically though, you have to have it all done before Christmas time because no one’s in town around that time. There are four of us setting up the entire festival, which is pretty

insane now that I’m saying it out loud. Considering we get about 500 applicants a year from performers, from musicians to buskers to everything that’s pretty cool. It’s got a great reputation, and the cool thing about this year is that we have 13 countries being represented, which is the most ever. What does the associate artistic director for the buskers festival mean? We actually decided to change my title to producer after we had a big discussion, it reflects what I’m doing a bit better. So basically my job is to liaise with all the performers, get all the flights, marketing, visas, everything sorted. I also have to source 500 plastic ponchos, more than 100-litres of kerosene, 40 juggling balls, 50 something cardboard boxes, 14 VCRs, 10 TVs, a kitchen sink, more than 5000 cable ties and some other random props for certain artists. Along with that,

I make sure they get here safely, and that they’ve got accommodation, well looked after and everything else. Just everything really! What performances are you most looking forward to in next year’s festival? I’m most looking forward to Yana Alana, who is a cabaret/ one-woman show. And also Buskers Burlesque which is a headline show for the festival. Who is your all-time favourite burlesque performer? It’s got to be Perle Noire. I bet there are a few stories of your time working with Mark Hadlow for MAMIL (Middle-Aged Man In Lycra? One thing that stands out during MAMIL, which is just Mark on stage, was when something would go quite wrong like a wrong prop or something, the show would not necessarily break down . . . but it sure got close a few times! he got the giggles before he went on stage, which made me really concerned. He’d have to walk on stage and say to himself: ‘Get it together.’ I’m also lucky to have worked with the top 10 burlesque dancers in the world. To have worked with them and to create something in the festival is pretty amazing. What most people don’t realise is that burlesque performances don’t come prearranged, they are literally made up the day before the performance. You have 24 hours to create an entire show, which can be bedlam, but come the next day, it always goes off, it just explodes. And you’ve been involved with Camp America before, too? Tell me about that. Yes, I went to the camp in the United States nine times. I live in Sydenham now, but when I first did Camp America I lived in Riccarton, and it’s a really long way to America. I started out being a counsellor for the kids on the camp, and by the end of it I was running all the events and doing things like that.

dream job to have

BUSY MAN: Tim Bain is the producer of the 2016 World Buskers Festival, to be held around the city.

It’s pretty awesome really because you get to do stuff that you wouldn’t normally get the chance to do. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get paid to ride a jet ski with kids. Agreed! Where do you sign up? No, I’m joking. What would be the best part of those camps? A lot of people would say a specific event with the kids, but for me it’s the connections that I made with the other

counsellors. I still talk to people from my first camp, so that’s really awesome. Now I have connections all around the world. When you live and work with someone for eight weeks straight you really grow tight with them. When you were doing drama studies yourself, did you ever get on stage and freeze, or ruin your lines or something like that? No, I don’t think so. The environment when I was

at Riccarton High was so supportive. I remember one time we had to perform a Greek play where in the final scene everyone is either dead or dying, and my character had a massive monologue to the audience and at the end of it there was silence. And I looked out into the audience and saw my dean, who covered her face and just bawled. It was great! Is this your dream job? It is absolutely my dream job.

Four receive Gold Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Awards

Four Year 13s have earned their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award. This prestigious award was presented by the Governor General to Clara Choi, Mark Holdaway, Dabin Jung and Hannah Lee. The teacher who inspired and monitored them has been Chris Stoop.

A group of Year 13 students listen to the farewells.

Foundation Day celebrated Foundation Day was celebrated with a full school assembly led by the Principal, Neil Haywood. Four prefects from 2005 attended and Sam Perry and Stacey Walker spoke of their time at Riccarton. Later, the staff celebrated milestones. Margaret Butler was recognised as a Riccarton Legend for her 25 years of service to the school. Noel and Rachael Hardie, and Chris Daly became Friends of the School in recognition of their contributions to the school. Former students Anika Tiplady and Darryn George were inducted into the Wall of Fame, Anika for her sporting achievements and contribution to the Defence Forces and the community, and Darryn for his work as an artist. Several staff were recognised for 10 years service to the school including Anne Roberts, Natalya Kammerer, Joe Gallagher and Janet Bisley, and Anne Jacques for her 20 years service.

Above: Darryn George and Anika Tiplady cut the cake marking the 57th Birthday of Riccarton High School, officially opened on 30 October, 1958.

At the recent Zonta Sports Awards for Secondary Schools, Riccarton’s Micaela Brenssell won the “Contribution to Sports Administration in a position of umpire, referee, coach or tutor Award”. The text of her nomination follows: Micaela has been a significant role model, and leader in Basketball and Girls’ Sport in her time at Riccarton High School. She captained the Senior A Girls’ Basketball team which won their grade and she coached the Year 10 Girls’ Basketball Team to be runner-up in their grade this winter. She was also co-chair Head of Sport in 2015. Micaela liaised with the coach of the Senior A team, organising and managing the team on a weekly basis. This involved checking player availability, and disseminating information about game times and transport. She was incredibly reliable in doing these tasks. Micaela Brenssell She was Floor Controller of Friday night Basketball assisting in organising referees, setting up for the evening and ensuring the games were run on time, and dealt with any situation that arose. Micaela was able to fit in the coaching of the Year 10 team along with her responsibilities as Head of Sport assisting in the organising of the functions held for the inter-school fixtures. She co-organised lunchtime activities such as Dodgeball, Multi Sport Tournament including Basketball, Netball, Football and One Touch, and Happy Daze Week. Again her ability to accept responsibility for a task and to complete it reliably were readily evident. In her management roles, Micaela had to work with both adults and fellow students from Year 9 to Year 13. She conducted herself well in these different roles, judging the appropriateness of the interactions required superbly. Left: Kokiri area resident Noel Hardie, who looks after the lodge in our absence, and Chris Daly who has coached and managed hockey in the school for many years, are recognised as Friends of Riccarton High School.

CHAMPIONS: Riccarton High School took home the junior girls’ Canterbury volleyball title. Back Row: (L-R) Roger Bleyendaal (coach), Jemma Saunders, Maisie Cropley, Jordan Hollinshead, Mia Jenkins, Jenny Winward, Kelsey Butland. Front Row: (L-R) Ruby Reiri-Mangai, Courtney Dyson, Reese Reiri-Mangai.

Third time tops BY JAIMIE KEAY

Riccarton High School has made it three in a row, winning this year’s junior girls’ Canterbury volleyball title. The team dominated at the tournament, held at Pioneer Stadium from November 5 to 8, not dropping a set on their way to their third consecutive title. Four Riccarton players were

named in the tournament team: Kelsey Butland, Jenny Winward, Courtney Dyson and Mia Jenkins. Jenkins also won most valuable player overall. The girls are coached by Roger Blyendaal. Head of volleyball Mary Edmonson said the team did not feel any extra pressure to make it three in a row. “The girls know that it is

possible with hard work, and they were all very good at turning up to trainings, and that makes a difference,” she said. Next for the team is the South Island championships, to be held at Pioneer Stadium, starting on November 23. Edmonson said they are expecting tough opposition. “Traditionally, the Nelson teams are quite strong – Waimea, Nelson Girls’ – and Marlborough Girls’ will be tough, but also Otago Girls’ High are looking

like they will be strong as well,” she said. Six other students from the Western area were named in a tournament team as well. Riccarton High School student Henry Davies was named in the junior boys team, along with Elisara Vaifale and Joshua Vaifale from St Thomas of Canterbury College. Christchurch Girls’ High School students Lily Sawyer and Shani Ali were also named in the junior girls tournament team.

PRIZE-GIVING Riccarton High School recently held their end of year prize-giving night. Year 12 student Carla Butler took home sportswoman of the year after another stellar year on the volleyball court. Butler was named in the NZ junior women’s volleyball team that travelled to Thailand earlier this year as well as the tournament team at the mainland south island competition in March. Year 12 student Sam Nielsen was named sportsman of the year after he was also a member of the tournament team at the mainland south island volleyball competition in March. Nielsen was also named overall MVP at the same competition.

Student racer on track in Toyota 86 series JAIMIE KEAY

Knowing the conditions better will be a key factor in Caleb Cross’ next outing in the 2015-2016 Toyota Finance 86 Championship. The Christchurch Boys’ High School student says his inexperience in a closed roofed car cost him in the first round at Pukekohe last week. However, he finished a credible 11th at the end of three races. Cross said he was pleased with his first outing on the ‘unforgiving’ Pukekohe track, driving his two-door coupe.

Across the three races, Cross consistently improved his lap times, and in his final race, he finished within 1sec of the current lap record. Cross said it is a big change going from karting to race car driving. “It is a lot more to take into consideration – the gears and feeling how much grip there is. “Basically, it’s a lot more to get right, which means the margin for error is a lot smaller,” he said. With the race a part of the Pukekohe round of the Australian V8 Supercar series, Cross said it was a big change

racing in front of nearly 120,000 people. “With the grandstands full, it can be quite scary with all those people watching you,” he said. Cross also said he really enjoyed dealing with local school students who came to the race track. “I love doing that sort of stuff. I remember as a kid doing the same thing, so I’m always happy to chat with them; give them some advice.” With one round under his belt, Cross said he is looking for a big couple of rounds to help push his points up. “My overall goal is to finish

ON THE RIGHT TRACK: Caleb Cross in action at Pukekohe.

fourth. With a couple of big rounds in there, I just want to keep pushing up the leader board,” he said. The next race for Cross is

on November 27, at Hampton Downs, before next year sees him in action in Christchurch on January 14-16, at Ruapuna Raceway.

Hornby High School Years 7 – 13

Time to celebrate success Kia ora koutou. Talofa. Kia Orana. Malo e lelei. Bula. Fakaalofa atu. Namaste. Kumusta. Haere mai ki Te Huruhuru Ao o Horomaka. Warm greetings to the Hornby High School community. We are pleased to acknowledge and celebrate student successes of 2015: academic, social, sporting and cultural. It is particularly noteworthy that so many of our students are committed to the principle of personal excellence and this commitment is visible in their daily lives. They want to be the very person that that they can be. There is a lot to be optimistic about for New Zealand’s future as our teenagers move into adulthood and positions of influence and leadership. I wish to thank the Hornby community – individuals, social organisations and business – for its continued financial and moral support during 2015. This support makes a positive difference – individual students have received significant opportunities that they wouldn’t have otherwise – and we are grateful. Next year I take up a new position as Principal of Linwood College. My final thanks, therefore, are to family and whānau, and the entire Hornby community. Thank you for the partnership over the year, and over the past seven and a half years. As I said at our recent Leavers’ Assembly, there has been, there is and there will be only one Hornby, and it is forever in my heart. Best wishes for the festive season and the New Year. Ngā mihi nui. Richard Edmundson Principal

Christmas shoppers at this inspiring store

It’s easy to get inspired when Christmas shopping at Inspirations in Riccarton, with new and exciting Christmas stock constantly arriving.

A

s you look around you will see eye-catching items from local suppliers as well as a large selection of merchandise specially imported by Inspirations. “For example, we are famous for our incense, and we now have an even bigger range with our exquisite, beautifully boxed incense that comes from the new supplier we have just secured in Holland,” says owner Craig McWilliams. The beautiful scents and gorgeous packaging make these boxes of incense ideal Christmas gifts, Craig says. Inspirations has also extended its range of incense burners, with a magnificent selection of sculptured designs, including stylised dragons that have just arrived. Himalayan salt lamps are another very popular item at Inspirations, and according

to the supplier, Inspirations is their biggest customer, Craig says. “That’s because the prices of our salt lamps are the cheapest in the whole country.” If you are on a tight budget and looking for bargains when Christmas shopping for family and friends, or buying for yourself, you need to check out the clearance items, which are up to 75 per cent off the original price. “These are items that won’t be available again because they’re deleted, or there are only a few left, so we mark them down to ridiculous prices,” says Craig. “The range will get bigger as we get closer to Christmas, so make sure you keep coming back to have a look.” Statues, feng shui items for placement, wind chimes, dream catchers and rainbow

You can cut the amount of fat used by covering the pot while your onion cooks — the lid collects moisture that would normally evaporate, and by returning this to the onion, it avoids burning. Fat Freeze machine gets results!

50% off first treatment

Research from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery suggests a loss of 20 to 40 per cent for each treatment (where 20 per cent is the average). After a two-month wait, when you are ready for the next treatment, you can look forward to another 20 per cent and even more being lost. Sometimes one treatment is enough. The technology of using cold to decompose fat cells was pioneered by the president of the Pennsylvania University School of Medicine in America and has since gained FDA approval as well as European CE. Unlike other slimming technologies out there, this one is designed as an alternative to liposuction for areas of localised fat, for example, back rolls, muffin tops, love handles.

The cryolipolysis (Fat Freeze) machine is so effective – you will be amazed by the results.

H

ow does the treatment work? With our treatment, we use a specially designed vacuum to gently draw up the skin area; the automated cooling handles then starts the treatment, which can be programmable, including treatment time. The great thing about this treatment, apart from that it’s simple and really effective, is that it’s designed to be a ‘lunchtime job’, where clients can return to normal activities right afterwards without discomfort and the only tell-tale signs being a flushed skin appearance (on the treated area) for a few hours.

What can I do after the treatment? Usually we have patients going back to work immediately after the session. Some patients experience redness, tingling or numbness in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. For others some bruising and discomfort may occur.

How long until I see results? Visible changes occur as quickly as three weeks, while the most dramatic results show after two months. The body will continue to flush out fat cells along with its toxins up to four to six months after treatment.

Physiotherapists offer ‘two-pronged attack’ to treat injury problems When our body feels pain, it’s telling us that something is wrong, but it’s not necessary to live with ongoing musculoskeletal pain, says Richard Hopkins of Physiotherapy Associates in Wainoni Road.

“T

he function of pain is to act as a warning system so you are more aware of looking after that area of your body. However, when the body is injured the nerves can become extra sensitive, and this sensitivity can remain even after the injury is healed, so you are left with a pain you don’t have to have, which can become a chronic pain.” As Richard points out, we tend to avoid using the part of our body that is sore, and this can result in lack of normal movement, leading to gradual deconditioning of the muscles, resulting in more load on the joints. “If we avoid feeling the pain, this can become a problem because we are using that part of the body less. Even after the cause of the pain has gone, the pain may remain for a variety of reasons.” To deal with such situations, he and

fellow physiotherapist Wendy Cooper offer a “two-pronged attack”. “This involves dealing with the pain caused by the injury, and then treating the deconditioning to bring the body

back to normal.” Patients usually need an average of four to five physiotherapy sessions, though this can vary according to the extent of the injury and the deconditioning that has occurred. Richard and Wendy liaise with the patient’s GP or other health professionals if necessary. They also manage the ACC paperwork and arrange X-ray or ultrasound scans if required. You don’t need to be referred by your GP to receive physiotherapy treatment at Physiotherapy Associates, you can contact them directly to make an appointment, Richard says. Opening hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The clinic is located at 86a Wainoni Rd, opposite Porritt Park. Phone 389 7196.

Aurion – big car with a big engine Whereas Toyota has just launched a new generation Camry, its stablemate, the bigengined Aurion, which shares much the same ideology, doesn’t take on such a dramatic change. However, it has had a facelift which will see it through to the end of Australian manufacture in 2017. And the reality is, there was little in the old Aurion that needed refreshing, it has been a solid performer for Toyota, its large car feel and spaciousness has been a lure for those who like six-cylinder engines and aren’t prepared to compromise on performance. In terms of change, the Aurion gets a new grille and bumper, while Sportivo models have garnish changes to enhance a sporty look such as big black wheels. Inside, there’s a lot of extra detail, minor fitment features such as upgraded gauges, rear window blind, audio upgrades, Bluetooth streaming and upgraded trim detailing. The Aurion lands here in three variations, the entry-level model sits at $50,990, while a Sportivo SX6 and ZR6 are priced at $52,490 and $54,990 respectively. The evaluation car was the mid-range model, and it performs as well as it looks.

Price: Toyota Aurion Sportivo SX6, $52,490. Dimensions: Length,4855mm; width, 1825mm; height, 1470mm. Configuration: V6 transverse, front-wheel-drive, 3456cc, 200kW, 336Nm, six-speed automatic. Performance: 0-100km/h, 7.1sec.

Other than those changes I’ve just mentioned, the concept of Aurion hasn’t altered. It shares its 3.5-litre engine with a lot of other Toyota and Lexus product and, what’s more, it is a strong engine with high power outputs – 200kW and 336Nm, it is also managed so that efficiency isn’t overly compromised. But given its capacity and strength, it does like to work hard and freely, it will surge under acceleration providing a quick standstill to 100km/h time of 7.1sec. It will also lunge through a highway overtake in 4.8sec, making 120km/h from 80km/h. Response to throttle request is sharp and instant, the power flows evenly through a six-speed automatic gearbox, the only transmission in the range. The gearbox has a manual shift function at the main gearshift lever itself and through steering wheel-mounted paddles, but such is the strength of the engine and the management process which encourages early shifts so that fuel usage isn’t

wasted, I mostly let the transmission change according to its own shift patterns. Toyota claims a 9.3-litre per 100km/h (30mpg) combined cycle average which correlates well with my time with the test car at 10/100km (28mpg). That figure taking into account that I often worked the engine hard, just to feel its surge. At 100km/h, a 7/100km (40mpg) instantaneous figure is available, the engine turning over at just 1650rpm in top gear. Given its performance capability, these figures are rather remarkable. At open road speed the Aurion cruises quietly, it glides through the air with just a slight hum off

the Bridgestone Turanza tyres (225/45 x18in), only on coarse chip seal. It is a happy highway traveller, dispensing the kilometres with ease, and affording the occupants a comfortable, moderately firmed ride. The spring and damper rates have been well engineered so that the Aurion will absorb uneven surfaces without jolting the cabin proper. The suspension will also keep the platform and body structure even when tackling the inevitable twists and turns. Major items of equipment include dual zone climate control, comprehensive trip computer, keyless entry and ignition, and

premium audio with iPod/USB connectivity. For safety there is traction and stability control, complex air bag network, reversing camera, blind spot monitoring and ISOFIX child seat tethers. Just like the Camry, the Aurion provides a pleasing driving experience and a level of comfort which rivals models with far greater pedigree. Every time I think that we might lose great cars like the Aurion when the Australian manufacturing industry shuts down, I can’t help but feel we are losing something traditionally Australasian. Although large car sales have dwindled in recent years thanks to the popularity of sport utility vehicles, it’s been cars like the Aurion and other big Aussie sedans that have paved the way for our desire of big cars and their big engines.

he clean, squared-off lines of Strathmore are as desirable now as they ever were, lending themselves well to contemporary living. Clad in poured concrete, this 1937 home has the large rooms and solidity of build that was typical of its time and now partnered with extensive and clever renovations that include underfloor heating, very stylish bathrooms and a long, gallery-style balcony. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms, three living areas and a computer nook are all incorporated within its 333m2 floor plan, along with a designer kitchen and European-styled dining room. Totally private, the large botanical-styled grounds come courtesy of great landscaping and years of growth to produce specimen trees and lush plantings across approximately 1600m2 of land. Superb interior design and all the practical features, including triple car garaging and off-street parking, are just the start of a wonderful home that puts you in the heart of one of Christchurch’s most desirable suburbs with zoning for Christchurch Girls and Boys High Schools, and easy access to the retail, hospitality and services of Fendalton, Merivale and Riccarton. Once properties of this calibre sell, they are a long time coming back on the market so if you’re going to make your move on this one, you need to register your interest now.

Open Homes: Saturday and Sunday, 1pm to 1.30pm. See you at the open home or before for a private viewing, contact Cameron Bailey of Harcourts Gold Papanui (Licensed Agent REAA 2008) on 352 6166 or mobile 0275 557 079.
